The college’s online campus map is managed by the web team in the Communications Office. The map is built on the Google Maps framework and backed by a robust content management system. The current version of the map, launched in December 2014, is mobile-optimized and offers significantly more functionality than the previous version, including:
- Detailed renderings of all campus buildings
- Step-by-step directions to any building on campus, including arts and sports venues
- Buildings categorized by function
- Parking lots categorized by type
- Admission tour with photos and videos
- Art tour with photos and videos
- College housing, including faculty/staff rentals
More To Do
We’re just getting started with this new map. Its content management system contains a huge amount of information about the hundreds of buildings and points of interest on campus and should serve as a helpful resource for the Williams community and prospective community members. To that end, there is always more information that could be added. The web team is working with Facilities and other groups on campus to add features to the map, including comprehensive accessibility information.
A Map Advisory Group
The new map framework is flexible and capable of evolving to meet our current and future needs. How it will evolve depends very much on the feedback and suggestions we get from you. To share suggestions or corrections for the map, please visit our feedback form. If you would like to join our Map Advisory Group, please email Carl Strolle ([email protected]) to express your interest. We plan to communicate regularly with the advisory group and will look to it to help us prioritize map enhancements.
