Williams Announces Summer Fellowships for Berkshire County High School Students

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., April 19, 2001 — Williams College has announced that the deadline to submit application materials for their Summer Fellowships at Williams College programs is Friday, May 11. The program awards three to four fellowships in the biological sciences to current high school juniors.

Recipients will participate in ongoing research projects of Williams faculty during the month of July. Theparticipating laboratories encompass a number of disciplines in the biological sciences. The fellowships carry a stipend of $1,000. The program is supported by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

To apply, students should: (1) send a letter of interest that clearly describes why they would like to participate in the program, (2) arrange for a copy of their high school transcript to be forwarded, and (3) arrange two letters of recommendation to be sent to: Steven J. Zottoli, Department of Biology, Williams College, Williamstown, MA 01267.
