Public Invited to Win Wassenar Lecture

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., Feb. 27, 2001 — Win Wassenar, director of physical plant, will speak on “The Williams College Architectural Arboretum: Before, During, and After,” on Thursday, March 1. The talk will be held at 4:15 p.m. in Room 123 of the Thompson Chemistry Lab. The event is free and open to the public.

Wassenar is an expert in construction planning and oversight, energy conservation, and computerization. During his tenure at Williams, he has overseen the construction and renovation of numerous buildings, including most recently The Science Center and Goodrich Hall. He has been at Williams since 1964.

He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering as well as his M.S. in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1960.

Wassenar was the first plant administrator ever to receive a Fulbright Scholarship, and worked at the University of Warwick in Coventry in their estates office. He is also a recipient of the Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers’ President’s Award for exceptional achievement in facilities management.
