Williams Partners in $4.9 Million Grant to Examine Historical Injustice in New England

February 2, 2021—Williams College, Brown University’s Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice (CSSJ), and Connecticut’s Mystic Seaport Museum (MSM) are partnering on a three-year project that will use maritime history as a basis for studying historical injustices and generating new insights into the relationship between European colonization in North America, the dispossession of Native American land and racial slavery in New England. Williams College Announces Tenure for Eight Faculty Members

January 14, 2021—The Board of Trustees of Williams College voted to promote eight faculty to the position of associate professor with tenure. Promotions will take effect July 1, 2021, for Jeremy Cone, psychology; Christine DeLucia, history; Matthew Gibson, economics; Lama Nassif, comparative literature; Christina Simko, sociology; Owen Thompson, economics; Emily Vasiliauskas, English; and Zachary Wadsworth, music. Williams College Student Julius Dodson ’21 Named Schwarzman Scholar

December 7, 2020—Williams College student Julius Dodson ’21 has been named a Schwarzman Scholar and will join the program’s sixth cohort of students since the program began in 2016. Schwarzman Scholars is a highly selective, one-year master’s program located at Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University in Beijing that aims to prepare the next generation of global leaders for the challenges of the future. Eleven Williams Graduates Awarded Fulbright Grants

Sept. 3, 2020—Eleven Williams College graduates have been offered Fulbright grants for 2020-21. Five of the honorees will receive a one-year grant to study or conduct research in their academic fields, one will pursue an academic year-long binational internship in Mexico, and five will receive English Teaching Assistantships (ETA) for teaching abroad.
