WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., Sept. 12, 2001 — Victor Hill will open the 34th season of his Griffin Hall Concerts at Williams College with a harpsichord recital in the Auditorium of the Clark Art Institute on Sunday, September 16, at 3:00.

The program includes the “Adagio and Toccata in G major” and “English Suite in G minor” by J. S. Bach and seven Sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti. These two are probably the best-known composers of music for the harpsichord, both born in 1685.

Hill is the Thomas T. Read Professor of Mathematics at Williams. He will play the two-manual Franco-Flemish harpsichord custom built for him in 1997 by Richard Kingston of Asheville, N.C.

The concert is open to the public without charge.
