Dinny Taylor Appointed Chief Technology Officer

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., June 22, 2001 — Williams College announces the appointment of Dinny Taylor as Chief Technology Officer. Taylor has served in this position in an interim capacity since August 1999.

As Chief Technology Officer, Taylor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Information Technology at Williams. These include administrative systems, desktop support, instructional technology and networks and systems.

Taylor came to Williams in 1983 as a programmer/analyst, and rose to the position of Assistant Director of Administrative Computing in 1989. In 1991 she began a six-year stint as Director of Administrative Computing, followed by four years as Director of Information Technology Services. Over the course of her career at Williams, Taylor has been instrumental in the development of database applications, systems development and analysis, as well as implementing strategic planning for general and administrative computing.

Taylor graduated from Connecticut College in 1968 with a B.A. in psychology and received her M.Ed. from Lesley College in 1970. She has studied computer science at other institutions, including Williams College, as well as spending a year studying at the University of Copenhagen. Professional courses and seminars in fields such as database design, Oracle and PeopleSoft have added to her knowledge of the field.

She is a member of numerous professional organizations. Her roles include serving as a board member for the Northeast Regional Computing Association, and an elected representative for the Technical Advisory Committee for Systems and Computer Technology Corp. She has written for several technology publications.
