WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., September 13, 2013—Williams College Dining will serve  locally sourced foods at Berkshire Grown’s 15th Annual Harvest Supper on Monday, Sept. 16. The event celebrates local food and farms and will take place at 6 p.m. at Ski Butternut in Great Barrington, Mass. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $70 for Berkshire Grown members and $80 for non-members. Call (413) 528-0041 for reservations. All proceeds go to Berkshire Grown to support its Buy Local campaign and its Share the Bounty project, which buys shares in local farms and then distributes the food to low-income residents in the region.

Under the direction of Executive Chef Mark Thompson, members from the Williams Dining team will serve food sourced from four local producers: Paradise Farms, Maplebrook Farms, Peace Valley Farm, and the Williams College Sustainable Growers’ Parsons Garden. The menu consists of Peace Valley sugar pumpkin and Parsons Garden sage tarts, Maplebrook feta stuffed mushrooms, Paradise Farms green apple and cinnamon gelato, and Peace Valley sundried tomato bruschetta.

At the Harvest Supper, chefs prepare dishes from the harvest grown by local farmers, showing the community why it is important that farmers continue to farm. Berkshire Grown is a pioneer organization in the food movement, which aims to connect farmers, chefs, retailers, and the larger community.
