Bestselling Author Dani Shapiro to Give Fiction Reading

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., Sept. 28, 2011— On Tuesday, Oct. 4, bestselling author Dani Shapiro will read excerpts from some of her work “Supernova,” a short story she wrote recently, and Devotion a memoir. The event is at 4 p.m. in Griffin Hall, room 3.

In addition to Devotion, Shapiro has authored another memoir titled Slow Motion, which has been described by Newsweek magazine as “stylishly written” and “splendid.” She has written five other books, including Black and White and Family History. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, Granta, and The New York Times Book Review. She has also written for television, having adapted Oscar Wilde’s The Happy Prince for HBO.

Shapiro has taught in the writing programs at New York University, Wesleyan University, and The New School at Columbia University. She is the co-founder of the Sirenland Writers Conference, a writers’ convention that offers readings, panels, and workshops in fiction and creative nonfiction. She is currently a contributing editor at Travel+Leisure.
