Chapin Library Offers Gallery Talk on Constitution Day, Sept. 17

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., September 15, 2015—In honor of Constitution Day, Wayne Hammond, the interim custodian of the Chapin Library at Williams College, will give a gallery talk about the U.S. Constitution and other founding documents of the United States at 4:15 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17. The public is welcome and the event is free.

Hammond will give his talk in the Chapin Gallery in the presence of original printings of the U.S. Constitution. The Chapin Library has original printings of the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the U.S. Constitution (a draft printing from the Constitutional Convention), two versions of the first amendments to the Constitution and George Washington’s copy of the Federalist Papers. All are on permanent display in the Chapin Gallery Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
