WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., November 12, 2014–Hopkins Forest will be closed during the Massachusetts deer hunting (shotgun) season December 1 through December 13.
Everyone is welcome to resume using the forest for hiking, jogging, and cross-country skiing following the 12-day shotgun season (there is no hunting on Sundays in Massachusetts).
During deer hunting season, if you are walking or jogging on any back roads or trails it is always advisable to wear brightly colored clothes as there could be hunters nearby.
Hopkins Forest is located at the intersection of Northwest Hill Road and Bulkley Street in Williamstown, Mass. The reserve, managed by the Williams College Center for Environmental Studies, spans more than 2,500 acres in Massachusetts, New York, and Vermont.
