WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., October 17, 2014—A screening of the documentary Growing Cites, directed by Dan Susman and Andrew Monbouquette, will take place at Williams College on Monday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Paresky auditorium.

The film, released in 2013, addresses the concept of urban farming and its potential influence on cities. Filmmakers Susman and Monbouquette take a road trip to meet the people who are harvesting their own crops despite living in cities. The film looks at the creative places urban farmers find to grow food without the room for a large garden—vacant lots, rooftops, and chicken coops—spaces that, in turn, make their communities more vibrant.

This event is sponsored by the Williams Sustainable Growers, Real Food Williams, and the Sustainable Food & Agriculture program as a part of the college’s Food Week from Oct. 19 to Oct. 26.
