WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., October 3, 2016—Mark Tercek ’79, president and CEO of The Nature Conservancy, will give a talk at Williams College titled “No Time to Waste: A Conservationist’s Perspective on How Best to Address Climate Change” on Wednesday, Oct. 12. His talk will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall, Bernhard Music Center. It is free and open to the public.

The Nature Conservancy is a global organization known for its intense focus on collaboration and accomplishing work for the benefit of people and nature. A former investment banker, Tercek brings the idea of natural capital—valuing nature for its own sake as well as for the services it provides—to conservation. Tercek is the author of the Washington Post and Publisher’s Weekly best-selling book Nature’s Fortune: How Business and Society Thrive by Investing in Nature. Tercek holds a B.A. from Williams and an M.B.A. from Harvard.

Tercek’s talk is part of a thematic year of inquiry called “Confronting Climate Change.” Throughout this academic year the college will host a series of speakers, events, and programming planned to shed light on the issue of climate change and how we should respond to it as individuals, as an institution, as a nation, and as a member of the global community. Sponsored by the Center for Environmental Studies.
