Office of Communications

Home

In the Office of Communications, our job is to tell the Williams story—a diverse narrative comprising people, place, and experience that defines Williams College and distinguishes it amid a sea of similar-seeming liberal arts colleges and universities.

How do we do this? We listen, connecting with faculty, students, staff, alumni, parents, and friends to learn about their unique and shared Williams experiences. We help, assisting the college’s departments and programs in getting the word out about their own stories. We collaborate, working across divisional and departmental boundaries to communicate consistently and strategically. And we share, imparting stories to our numerous communities and audiences, both internal and external, using a variety of print and electronic means.

Among other things, the Office of Communications manages media relations, produces the Williams Magazine and Williams People, and is responsible for developing and maintaining the college’s main website and Williams’ presence on various social media platforms (such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube). Our team includes the sports information group, as well as the editors of the Williams Magazine and People/Alumni News, the college’s web team, and staff members responsible for communications about and for alumni, the arts, and more.
